Performance Training for Youth / Adult Athletes
These sessions will be tailored to your sport or activity and we will support your training and performance with initial physical testing data. We will then tailor a strength & conditioning programme to target the areas highlighted for improvement and transform your performance. Taylormade Performance & Rehab offer this for both individual sessions and as a small team basis (maximum of 6 participants).
"Success in sport is dependent on the natural ability of the individual. False.
Working with Andy at Taylormade Performance has clearly shown me the importance of strength and conditioning coaching; if the body isn’t ready for the fight you will get injured; without exception. Injury takes any athlete off the road - or completely off the map. If I had known about Taylormade Performance earlier I believe the strength and conditioning coaching Andy offers would have prevented my injuries. The next best thing to meeting Andy before you get injured is to meet him after you get injured! Andy knows how to get your body back on the map. It’s not easy but if you do the work then Andy can show you the right path to find your goals on the tennis court."

Youth Performance Training
Q: Why should youth sport performers take part in a strengthening programme?
A: The journey to high performance sporting success and general well-being start at the same place.
Kelvin Giles, 2019
A: The journey to high performance sporting success and general well-being start at the same place.
- Mechanical (movement) efficiency (strong with the ability to move without restriction)
- Metabolic efficiency (conditioned for the activity)
- Mental well-being (self-confidence, Self Esteem)
- Behavioural quality (can manage emotional stress, and has the tools to develop this)
Kelvin Giles, 2019
At Taylormade Performance we believe passionately that children of all interests are equipped with the strength and coordination to control their own bodies for any given activity.
When children are involved in more intense high-level activities, preparation is key to both safety and performance.
Our tailored Youth Programmes ensure a safe and progressive transition through a detailed monitoring system adapting intensity and skill with developmental progression in mind.
Of the 4 pillars (technical, tactical, physical and mental) of sporting activity still the focus is only technical and tactical. Technical ability undoubtedly plays a vital role in the success of a performer. However, this is only a small part of the jigsaw. If the young athlete is not strong enough to carry out unrestricted movement or is unconditioned to the physical demands of the sport they are not as likely to be performing at their physical optimal function. This inefficiency can also be a major indicator to injury.

Surely this is a basic entitlement –to deliver the optimal well-being of all children and then to promote this throughout adulthood. Kelvin Giles, 2019
"Ben Cornish is on British Cycling's Development Talent Development program (Olympic BMX racing) is currently ranked 3rd in Great Britain BUT was consistently struggling against 2 older, more powerful riders.
Andy from Taylor Made Performance & Rehabilitation was recommended by other top British riders.
After six months working with Andy Ben is now consistently beating these riders on their home tracks and will be well prepared for the 2020 World Championships in Houston 🇺🇸 Texas.
Andy has really engaged Ben, connecting with him through fabulous communication skills. Their base is easy to get too, clean, bright and well equipped The training is structured but varied, includes a home training plan and reports on progress.
I wouldn’t hesitate in commending Taylor Made Performance & Rehabilitation - they will take you to the next level."

"My 13 year old daughter Evie is a young cycling athlete who is progressing into a British cycling programme, and with the level she is now entering we wanted to give her the best opportunity to succeed.
So I contacted Andy at Taylor made performance and rehabilitation and straight away I knew this is the right place , the gym equipment and presentation was first class. On our first assessment Andy could see where we needed to work on from a young athlete perspective and then designed a programme for Evie to work to. After each end of term sessions she does a test on different exercises to see where she’s improved over a period , and we then receive a email with all the statistics on.
We couldn’t be happier as her strength is growing and with the knowledge of what Andy is teaching her to understand what her body needs to keep improving.
As a parent we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to anyone who needs or wants improvements, thanks to Andy and Claire."
